Wow... Today is my 60th birthday, and I find I am grateful for so many things. I have anticipated this birthday for some months now, which is good, because if I hadn't, it would be even harder to wrap my brain around the fact that I'm 60 now.
Two years ago, I was ritually recognized as a Crone and Wisewoman of our community. That was truly wonderful! I love being a Crone! And I am very grateful to each and every one who took part in that rite, and especially to the two Crones who accepted me among their number, and the two wonderful and powerful priestesses, my friends Diane and Isidora, who devised and lead the ritual.
I want to express my gratitude to all of them, and to so many others who have been a part of my life. I was not able to have my 60th Birthday gathering at Haven over this past weekend -- the weather has been far too wet, and we do not yet have adequate shelter or parking there. In addition, an important friend and member of our community died, and his memorial was this weekend. To top it off, I got sick with a cold.
Therefore, my Birthday gathering at Haven is postponed, and since I was not able to express my gratitude this past weekend, I shall do so throughout this new year of my life. For me, this year of my life will be a Year of Gratitude, celebrated in part by borrowing from the birthday customs of hobbits.
That's another reason I very wisely postponed my Birthday gathering: I have not yet made/acquired enough presents!
I think this is going to be fun...
PS: Yes, it has been a while since I have posted. More Haven updates and topic-oriented posts to follow!
