Topic-focused entries

It has been some time now since I last posted a topic-focused entry here, despite the several such posts I have planned, and in some cases partially written.   We've been so involved in the process of searching for, finding, researching, buying and now beginning work on land for Haven that my entries have been largely updates for a while.

Past topics I've written about here (beyond the first few overviews of energy and sustainability issues, and our plans) have included:
  • Water
  • Land choice criteria
  • Cultures of place
  • Human needs
  • Dance as a tool for community building

...and more.  Several others are planned, such as sustainable natural building techniques ("Why Cob? or Strawbale? or..."), food self-sufficiency, "sanitation", cooperation and community building, home grids, taking responsibility for one's own defense, home schooling, money and local economies, and more.

I certainly don't claim to be an expert on all this stuff, or even most of it.  But these topics and more are all things that, in my opinion, are useful, important, even essential to address as part of making the changes necessary to adapt to global warming, the peaking of fossil fuel availability, failing economic systems, etc., while being a part of shaping as positive a future as possible for ourselves and those who come after us.

My hope is that not only might I clarify my own thoughts, but that we might all learn through this process.  Therefore, comments are welcomed and hoped for.

Anyway,  I think my next post will be one I started some months ago, entitled, "The Primal Oblation".  Coming soon, to a LiveJournal Blog near you!
